The Process

LeadingStrategically Process

Process

There are three roles involved in the LeadingStrategically process.

  • You, the client are the end customer and the person who is using this exercise as a development tool.
  • Your facilitator or consultant is working directly with the you.
  • The LeadingStrategically experts who will be analyzing the data, creating report and generating development tools.

Select Individuals or Groups

Working with your facilitator you will determine what results you want and where you stand now.   Then you will review your organization to find the best candidates for development. Your choices will depend on what you are looking for, such as succession planning, team building, staff development, or coaching.

Assessing Individuals or Groups

You will complete a survey of roughly 50 questions which will enable us to place you on a grid which we call the LeadingStrategically Capability Model. It takes 20-30 minutes to complete the questionnaire and you are encouraged to answer quickly since quick responses tend to be more accurate. The questionnaire is a diagnostic tool, not an evaluation. No answer is more correct than another.

Analyze Results

The questions are designed to determine where a you think you are located in the LeadingStrategically Capability Model, where you actually are, and where you should be based on your position in the organization. Once you complete the questionnaire, a LeadingStrategically expert will analyze, weight and summarize your answers. We will review and refine the results in consultation with the facilitator. Direct knowledge of the organization will contribute to the final analysis.

For a group analysis, we will combine the results and include a group summary.

Deliver Reports

You will receive a confidential report and consultation from your facilitator. The report includes a graphical summary of the results, detailed feedback on each of the LS dimensions, and developmental suggestions. The consultation includes the reasoning behind the scores, a discussion of results and an initial conversation about a development plan.

Group delivery will be tailored to the individual group and the intended results.

Development

Development is the final step of this process. When your facilitator delivers your report, you will learn where you stand in the LS model. More importantly you can discuss that information with your facilitator to design a plan for managing your career. The LS Report includes tips and recommendations on how to move from one level of LS capability to the next. The LS Tool Chest includes articles, videos, worksheets, and other development aids.

Group development offers many unique opportunities. Individuals will work on their own development as determined in their consultation, but it is a mistake to assume groups are the sum of the individual parts. Groups need their own development program and your facilitator will work with you to develop each program in accordance with the overall goals of the group.
